Vacancy for a Part-time Groundskeeper

Overseal Parish Council is looking for

a part-time Groundskeeper to work flexible hours

We are seeking a reliable and trustworthy individual to join our organisation as a Groundskeeper to help manage and maintain Overseal Parish Council's facilities and sites. The role also includes providing ad-hoc cover for the existing caretaker.

The main responsibilities would be:

  • Planting and maintaining trees, grass, shrubs, plants, and flowers.
  • To water all planters and flower beds as and when necessary, which are situated within the grounds of the Facilities.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of outdoor furniture and features.
  • Ensuring the grounds are clean and all walkways are clear of rubbish/debris
  • Litter picking all areas owned by the parish council, including the recreation ground
  • Emptying the bins inside the sports changing rooms
  • Cleaning windows and frames, inside and out, as necessary and ensuring this task is carried out before significant events such as Gala Day and Remembrance Sunday

Ad-hoc cover for the existing caretaker would include:

  • Opening and closing of the Facilities and the public toilets which may involve attending during evenings and at weekends.
  • To ensure all toilets are kept stocked with all consumables and to provide access to contractors to enable servicing of washroom products.
  • To oversee appropriate use of the heating system which should be set to provide a reasonable level of heat appropriate for the function concerned. Ensuring heating is turned off or to low depending on the time of year and when the hall is not in use.
  • To carrying out minor repairs, and simple tasks. Examples are changing light bulbs, minor plumbing works, touching up paintwork, repairs to tables and chairs, assembly of flat pack items.

All the necessary training and support will be provided to enable you to excel in the role.

The role is hourly paid at a rate of £13.28 and we envisage you will be required to work an average of fifteen hours per month.
